Hi , if your anything like me and couldn't afford a G25 steering wheel straight away then a GamePad is probably the next best thing . if your having trouble setting the Pad up try my settings which I've listed below ... these are set to the way i like them so you might want to tinker with them a bit to suit your driving style , i can get around aston national in the 1.41's with it set this way . open LFS and go to OPTIONS then follow the steps below .

CONTROLS ...

Wheel Turn = 90

Wheel Turn Compensation = 1.00

Force Strength = 50

Button Control Rate = 4.00

Thr / Brk Centre Reduction 0.00

MISC ...

Analogue Steer Smooth 0.75

Hope it helps good

BTW i have a G25 now , and wouldn't be without it tongue

Button Control Rate = 4.00

should stay defently on 10 cause it takes effect of manual clutch 1-10

1 means, that the clutch slowly unlock
10 means, that the clutch directly unlock..verry important for those who manualy gear.

wink

Yes but it was too difficult for me to use manual gears and clutch with a gamepad, I just didn't have enough fingers or buttons smile

When I used an Xbox 360 controller it was:
Left analogue = steering),
Right analogue up/down = Acceleration/brake),
L1 bumper = downshift, R1 bumper = upshift),
L2 trigger = clutch),
R2 trigger = handbrake),
Directional pad hat switch = look around),
The rest were for hotkeys and junk)

I had to have analogue steer smooth and lowered rotational lock and all that. However it just felt awful trying to steer with that controller's twitchy analogue stick and no deadzone built into LFS for controllers, could barely keep it strait = 1:34.20 was my XFG pb with that controller.

Wouldn't it be cute if Logitech invented a dual analogue controller for simracing where the left analogue stick had built in FFB and the right analogue stick had gates like an H-shifter and you could move the right analogue stick upleft for 1st gear and it would stay there, then pull it down to the center and it could jiggle around like in neutral. Downleft it would lock into 2nd gear, strait up would lock into 3rd, strait down would lock into 4th, upright would lock into 5th, downright would lock into 6th, and clicking in on the stick (R3) while placing it downright would lock it into reverse.  Perhaps the H-shifter could be assigned to the left stick for European and Asian drivers who are used to shifting with their left hand hehe. The triggers would have to be for acceleration and braking I guess. Heeheehee - it would be neat but it would be awful for LFS still = sucky times, but still a neat idea. A controller with built in FFB for the left analogue stick would be superior to any current controller for simracing. Like the stick would resist you or give way depending on the forces on the tires.

I'm gonna make a blueprint for the first FFB simracing controller and sell it to Logitech and get rich! The steering analogue stick besides just having FFB could also be designed larger than current sticks and feature a wider lock to lock movement. Ok, I can't really design it since I'm not an engineer, but it's a million dollar idea. They could incorporate the same technology used on flightsim sticks. In modern FFB flightsticks - you can feel smart varying degrees of resistance in the stick based on the action in the game. Just put that same tech into a controller's analogue stick. Then it would be a FFB controller that was good for sim racing or flightsims like Apache Air Assualt. I'd buy it.

If I see this thing in stores next year I'll know one of you stole my million dollar idea! And you'll have to share the money with me).
cool

I'd make it look sexy too: the h-shifter stick would be cased in a soft leather boot with a leather knob with the gears printed on the top. The steering stick would have a leather stiching surface and a steel base. The throttle and brake triggers would be aluminium with little holes in them and they'd be larger than current controller triggers. The brake trigger would feel stiffer and spongier. And the controller itself would be carbon fiber with the grips wrapped in steering wheel leather. And there's a thin led display for rpm level and a shift indicator light. And the lcd display would glow if you turn on your headlights in the game. And the start button would look like a start button on modern cars, and you must press it to activate the controller and when you press the start button you hear an engine cranking up sound and the controller rumbles! And if you stall out in the game, the controller rumbles and stutters and shuts off, and you gotta press the start button again to crank it back up.
