OK as of today I have just ordered new stuff for my pc. biggrin I have a mate has more money than sence. He has just got himself a alienware machine. But also has another machine that he's selling the bits from. So I will in the next week have a i7 975!!!! and a EVGA classified 4-Way SLI mobo with with 12gb of dominator gt ram! oh and 4 64gb ssd's in raid 0!!!!
think i will need to get a g27 for it..... just to balance it all out! hahahahah

I've died and gone to heaven. oh and just to rub it in a little more, he sold me the 975 at mates rates... an £800 cpu.... I paid £200!!!!! I love him... i might have his children now!

God I can't wait to get this thing built, god it's going to be too fast!!! I love life now!(I'm almost crying from the thought of it all) happy happy happy

Decided it was time to do some upgrading, get off the slow P4@2.8Ghz , 1GB RAM, 7600GT combo.

But as I'm a broke-ass mofo, I was on a tight budget.

Had 300 sheets to play with;

Processor: Intel E5300 Dual Core (2.6Ghz, but OCing to 3.2ish straight away)
Video Card: ATI HD 5670 1GB
Motherboard: Some Gigabyte "tuner" mobo
Memory: 2GB Kingston 800mhz RAM
Hard Drive: WD 250GB
Monitors: Gateway 19" and Samsung SyncMaster 19"
Sound Card: ... foons little secret!
Speakers: Alesis MK2 Active
Headphones: Sennheiser HD470 and Logitech Gaming Headset
Keyboard: 9 year old MS jobbie
Wheel: Logitech G25
Mouse: MS Habu (It's a Razor Copperhead inside)
Mouse Surface: IKEA desk...
Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, Ubuntu
Computer Case: Coolermaster

Oooooh I can't wait! Hoping for a constant 100+FPS and will use the 5670's go to power lots of AA and AF biggrin

Gotta get GTA4 and MW2 I s'pose...

Well, I did cheat a bit, I've only actually bought the main PC components (case/PSU/mobo/CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD), the gubbins that go with, I already had wink

Although I can do dual monitors now, SyncMaster 19" has been on telly duty for a while now!

Meh, not really a fan of AMD stuff, had one die on me a few years back.

Plus I got the E5300 as it's hugely overclockable. 2.6Ghz stock, upto 3.5Ghz on the Intel heatsink/fan, and 4 with aftermarket stuff!

Will throw some more RAM in there eventually, but 2GB is enough for now biggrin

I use a 32" LCD TV (only a cheap one, £200 new from eBay) on my cockpit and it works absolutely fine matey, you do lose some quality as the TV is not quite as fast or sharp as my above mentioned monitor, the biggest difference i think is the tarmac you drive on, doesnt look quite as smooth as it does on my main PC's monitor, but still the size makes up for it and i dont think it detracts from the game any, i feel WAY more immersed sitting in my cockpit that sitting at my desk, all you can see is screen, its great.

Ordered Sunday. 5 day delivery, cos I'm cheap (read as poor).

Big burly beardy brown bloke bringing boxes bangs boldly (lol) on my door at 8am.

Long story short, I cut myself on the case, then took far too long building the damn thing.

But it's ALIVE!

Done a quick test before going out;

Old system was a 50fps average @ 1440x900, 2xAA, 16xAF with low details
New system gets a nice 190fps @ 1440x900 8xAA 32xAF with max details

Quick test of a full grid, 70fps with no LOD reduction and full 240m MP visibility.

My setup is very modest: Logitech Driving Force GT wheel ($130), 32 inch lcd monitor - 1080p 120 hz ($600), Alienware M17X ($2,000): Windows 7 Ultimate 64, Intel Core2 Extreme Q9300 @ 3.00 GHz, 4 GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M (x2), 500 w Sony receiver ($200), and $200 in speakers. So about $3,000 total. (Prices were when it was new, now all this is sooo much cheaper and outdated). P.S. I sit on a freakin bar stool... And it hurts my butt. Also I sweat like crazy sitting right in from of the lcd lamp - After an hr of racing I'm soaked and my butt hurts and my legs hurt. Would really like a nice racing chair, seat, something...

SMOKE...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhR7KNRNvbY
this is for pedals
i would buy this wheel
http://us.fanatec.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=144
H shifter
http://us.fanatec.com/Shifters?product_id=126
most expensive pedals are not best pedals...
anyways you would probably get all this for a reasonable price on ebay...
but yes the whole package with g25 or 27 is for the money u got. i got g25 and shifter is broken and i wasnt harsh with it, i know a lot of people who are complaining about the shifter how easily it brakes. pedals are pedals....not the best not the worst. if i would go back i wouldnt buy logitech, i would go for fanatech or anyother wheel with 3pedals. when i drive i get the feeling the wheel will fall off, its like its not fully attached...anyways hope this helped
